Career Development Benefits

We have career development classes provided to all Hollingsworth employees to improve their skill sets and enhance their careers. In these classes you will learn important skills that will empower and further your career within Hollingsworth.

Who is Eligible: As long as you are employed with Hollingsworth, you are eligible for these benefits. Please read the descriptions below for more details on how to qualify and how to apply. Programs may also be location dependent.

ESL (English as a Second Language) classes are cufrrently offered at Corporate only for both salary and hourly employees, however we will be expanding the program.

The U of D Mercy Masters Business Fundamentals Class is currently offered to Corporate and salary employees who currently hold a Bachelors degree.

How to Apply:

An internal candidate interested in forklift driving would need to alert their supervisor and get approval to attend the next class.

All external candidates should contact and submit an application to their Staffing agency.

All Hollingsworth employees both Hourly & Salary are eligible for the College Scholarship Program.

The scholarships are available twice a year during the Fall and Spring semesters.

Human Resources will be sending out a reminder in November/December to have potential applicants prep their submissions for review for the Spring semester, and again in July/August for the Fall semester.

Community Involvement

Giving back to the communities in which we live is important. We strive to find unique and thoughtful ways to give back to those less fortunate.

Hollingsworth donates 10,000 hours each year to support the communities in which we live. That’s an 8 hour committment per employee on an annual basis.

Community volunteer events are set up by the Hollingsworth Huddle team. All employees are welcome to organize volunteer and community events at their facility and all facilities nationwide are encouraged to participate.

In 2020, our goal is to complete 11,000 volunteer hours!

Hollingsworth encourages employees to become involved in their communities, lending their voluntary support to programs that positively impact the quality of life within these communities.

Volunteer Time

  • Depending on the event, employees may take up to 4– 5 hours to participate in their specific volunteer program. Volunteer hours should not exceed 20 hours anually.
  • Volunteer time must be requested in advance and when possible, should be regular and on a set schedule to help with the coordination of other work-related responsibilities.
  • Volunteer time should not conflict with the peak work schedule and other work-related responsibilities, create need for overtime or cause conflicts with other employees’ schedules.

Eligibility

  • All full-time employees are eligible.
  • Interested employees should have expected performance or above.
  • Interested employees should meet with their managers to discuss their volunteer choice, schedule and to receive approval.
  • Volunteer opportunities should not conflict with peak work schedules or other work related responsibilities.

If you like meeting new people, getting involved in your community, sharing your skills or doing something that will make a difference in someone else’s life, the United Way volunteer portal will connect you to opportunities in your community.

How to Sign-Up:

Visit the United Way website and click the “Join Our Volunteer Group” to sign-up. You will create a profile for yourself. From there you will be able to see volunteer opportunities you can participate in in your area.

Employee Recognition Opportunities

Appreciation can make a day, and even change a life.

We recognize that our employees are important to our success. Here are ways we appreciate the hard work that you put in each day.

As long as you are employed with Hollingsworth, you are eligible for these benefits. The benefits are Facility Dependent, please inquire with Human Resources or your Manager on how to participate.

The Hollingsworth Huddle team will announce events via e-mail, newsletters, on the Community App and in breakrooms.

Monthly birthday celebrations are currently held at the Cypress & Decatur locations only. We are working on expanding this to other facilities.

All employees born within the birthday month will celebrate with a gathering a shared birthday cake.

Announcements will be posted in the breakroom and on the Community App.

Once a year, we announce the SuperSTAR of the year award.

Our annual SuperSTAR Program recognizes winners each year in the following categories:

  • 2019 Above and Beyond Award: Recognizes the employee that has stepped outside of their normal job duties to identify and enhance a metric, process, deliverable or solution that benefits the company and/or customer.
  • Volunteer of the Year Award: Recognizes the site (or individual) that has given back to their community and/or charitable cause in such a way that it standsout against. We will look at volunteer hours logged, number of charties engaged, etc. to determine the award recipient.
  • Annual Customer Service Award: This goes to the individual whose contributions had a direct impact on improving service levels to our customers (internal or external). This may come in the form of an innovative solution provided, the number of hours dedicated toward a particular solution or other circumstance that exexmplifies outstanding service to our customers.
  • 2019 Unicorn Award: Recognizes a one-of-a-kind employee whose unique skill set or knowledge of the company and/or customer proved to be invaluable to the company in the calendar year.

We currently only have the annual Summer BBQ at our corporate location in Dearborn, Michigan.

Health and Wellness

Programs available to Hollingsworth employees to promote personal health and wellness.

Our dental services are managed by Delta Dental. All employees are eligible for dental services.

Services Available to Hollingsworth Employees:

  • Diagnostic and preventative service. 100% is covered after you have met your deductible. Equivalent to 2 exams annually.
  • Basic services (fillings/oral surgery) covered at 80%
  • Major services (crowns/bridges) covered at 60%
  • $50 deductible per family member, up to $150 maximum per Family
  • The calendar year maximum benefit is $1,200.
  • Orthodontia is not covered.

Employee Support Programs

When you work at Hollingsworth, you are family.

At Hollingsworth, we recognize that our employees are integral to our success. We’ve created programs to support employees and their families.

As long as you are employed with Hollingsworth, you are eligible for these benefits. These benefits are applicable at a facilities and offices nationwide.

All employees are eligible to take time off to visit their families and relatives in their home country without disrupting their job at Hollingsworth.

In the event personal obligations require your absence from work for an extended period of time, you are eligible for a Leave of Absence. There are 3 types of leaves: Personal Leave, Family Medical Leave, and Homeland Leave. In order to request this unpaid time off, it must be submitted in writing and submitted to your Supervisor as soon as you become aware of the need. Permission to take unpaid leave will be at the sole discretion of Hollingsworth management and contingent upon Hollingsworth’s workload and present staffing situation during the proposed period of absence.

The following guidelines apply to all types of leave:

  • An employee must have one year of service to be eligible for a Leave.
  • An employee is eligible to request a Homeland or Personal leave once every two (2) years.
  • All available vacation time will be paid out on the first and second (if applicable) pay cycle following the Leave start date.
  • Vacation time may not be joined with a leave period. (ex. 2 weeks vacation then 4 weeks Leave-resulting in 6 weeks absence.
  • A Personal Leave must not exceed 30 days.
  • There is no paid Leave of Absence.
  • An employee shall accrue seniority during the leave period.
  • Failure to return to work on the designated date, without contacting Human Resources will result in termination, effective the designated return date. The HR # is: (313) 768-1275.
  • While on leave employee must pay their employee portion of any benefit coverages.
  • The leave dates may not be changed once the leave period has begun.
  • For Homeland leave, a copy of travel fare tickets must be included with the request in order to qualify. You must provide a copy of a stamped passport upon return.

Download and complete the Leave of Absence form. Sign the form and get your Manager’s approval prior to submitting the form to Human Resources.

Voice Meetings are a chance for employees to be heard. Do you need more supplies? Do you need support in your role at Hollingsworth? Our Voice Meetings are an opportunity for you to request supplies and training to help you succeed in your jobs.

This program is available to non union plants with 75 or more employees. At Voice Meetings, attendees cannot talk about pay. Every odd month, Supervisors discuss with plant managers in regards to what is needed around the warehouse. For example: not enough fans or box cutters needed to fulfill job duties.

When you refer an employee to Hollingsworth, if they are hired and pass their probation period, you will earn up to $500 in cash for your referral!

Hollingsworth is always looking for good people to join our team. Research has shown that the best quality employees come from people that our current employees refer. Referrals stay with the company longer and establish a bond almost immediately with the team.

That’s where you come in! We need your help.

If you know someone who would be a good addition to Hollingsworth (either as a direct-hire or through Crown Staffing Solutions) you may be awarded a referral bonus of $100 – $500. Please refer to the chart below to see the referral bonus for a candidate that you refer to work at Hollingsworth.

Employees must refer candidates to Human Resources through the employee referral program form below.

Employee Referral Program Rules:

  • All Hollingsworth employees are eligible for the employee referral bonus except those at Director-level and above, Human Resources personnel, and managers with responsibility in the areas the referred candidate is placed.
  • The referral date cannot be earlier than the date the job opening is posted. The hiring of a referred employee must occur within 180 days (six months) of the initial referral date.
  • The referral must represent the candidate’s first contact with Hollingsworth and/or Crown.
  • Former employees of Hollingsworth or Crown are not eligible candidates for referral awards.
  • To be eligible for an award, an employee must submit a referral to Human Resources with a candidate referral form and a resume and or employment application.
  • The referring employee must agree to have his or her name used when the company contacts the candidate.
  • The first employee to refer a candidate will be the only referring employee eligible for payment.
  • Only candidates who meet the essential qualifications for the position will be considered.
  • All candidates will be evaluated for employment consistent with company policies and procedures.
  • Any interpretations of this employee program will be handled through Human Resources.
  • All referral bonus payments will be paid 90 days after the referred employee’s first day of employment.  For bonuses paid out for Supervisor and above placements, $250 will be paid out on placement’s 90th day and $250 on the 180th day of employment.
